Lindenwood University-Belleville Claims The 2014 USCAA Baseball National Championship

JACKSONVILLE, Illinois – The Lynx of Lindenwood University-Belleville defeated the Cougars of the University of Cincinnati-Clermont by a score of 15-2, earning their first USCAA Baseball National Championship.

Lindenwood pounced on the defending national baseball champions early as they took advantage of the seven batters left on base and five critical errors made by the Cougars.  The Lynx struck early in the ballgame as they put up four runs on four hits in the first inning.  Connor Allen drove in three of his game high five RBIs when he ripped a double to left center to bring home Jake Degener, Mirek Sharp, and Dylan Skinne.

The Cougars would close the gap in the top of the third when third basemen Trevor Cunningham doubled to right center to score Ryan Jesse and Jay Schunk that made the score, 5-2, in favor of the Lynx. However, those would be the only runs allowed by the Lynx and pitcher Dylan Arvai.

Arvai, who made the All-Tournament Team, pitched a complete game (9 innings), striking out five batters while allowing 11 hits. The Lynx scored four runs in the third and in the eighth inning as they cruised to the 2014 USCAA Baseball National Championship.

All-Tournament MVP, Kyle Forsythe, went 1 for 4 on the day with an RBI. Making the All-Tournament team from the University of Cincinnati-Clermont was Ryan Mummert and Nike Burrus who each went 1 for 3 at the plate.
