#3 Penn State Greater Allegheny 7, #7 Selma University 1
In the nightcap, #3 Penn State Greater Allegheny defeats #7 Selma University 7-1 to move on in the Small College World Series.
The Nittany Lions took advantage of five Selma University errors throughout the matchup to score four of their seven runs to take commanding control of the ball game. Top performers for the Nittany Lions was third basemen, Victor Monroig, who went 2 for 3 at the plate scoring one run and driving in two RBIs. Pitcher, Eddie James, threw a complete game with five strike outs while only giving up one unearned run. Mitchell Webb III, drove in the only run for the Bulldogs as he went 2 for 2 at the plate with one walk.
#3 Penn State Greater Allegheny will play #1 University of Cincinnati-Clermont Cougars in an elimination game on Wednesday May 14th at 10:00am at Lenz field. This is a rematch of the 2013 Small College World Series National Championship game. A game in which the Cougars defeated the Nittany Lions to be crowned National Champions. Selma University ends their season with a record of 19-8.

#8 Victory University rallied late to defeat #9 Rochester College, 6-5, to move on in the 2014 Small College World Series.
In arguably the most exciting game of the tournament thus far, the Eagles rallied from a 2-run deficit in the seventh inning to win the game off a ground rule double in the bottom of the eighth inning. In the seventh inning, Holden Watts hit an RBI double to the outfield to bring the Eagles to within one run. Rochester College would then intentionally walk the next batter to load the bases, only to walk to the very next batter and bring in the tying run.
In the eighth inning, the Eagles loaded up the bases once again. Home Run Derby Champion, Kent Voorhies, drove in the winning run on an RBI single to right field. Playing well for the Warriors was Ryan Rosati who went 2 for 4 from the plate and drove in two runners.
Victory University now moves on to face #6 St. Joseph’s College (Brooklyn) on May 14th at 10:00am at Lenz Field in an elimination game. Rochester College’s season comes to an end with the lose.

#3 Penn State Greater Allegheny beats host Robert Morris University-Springfield 12-1 to move on in the winners bracket of the 2014 Small College World Series.
The Eagles stuck first in the top of the first inning off of a double-play force out to go up on the third seeded Nittany Lions. However, the Eagles would leave seven batters on base throughout the game and it would be their only run of the game. The Nittany Lions scored 12 runs on 11 hits by seven different batters. Right fielder Gianmarco Concepcion went 3 for 4 and recorded three RBIs. Top performer for the Eagles was center fielder Reid Daivd who went 3 for 4 at the plate and scored the team’s only run.
#3 Penn State Greater Allegheny will play tonight in their second elimination of the day game against #7 Selma University at 7:30pm at Lenz Field. #10 Robert Morris University-Springfield has been eliminated from the 2014 Small College World Series with the loss.

Down by a run to the defending USCAA Small College World Series National Champions, the Builders broke the game open in the fourth inning by scoring three runs. The Builders would continue to add onto their lead the next inning by scoring five runs to give starting pitcher, Taylor Gomer, plenty of run support behind an impressive outing in today’s matchup. Gomer didn’t allow a single hit between the second and sixth innings of play. The Cougars managed two hits in the first inning and three hits in the seventh against the Builders sophomore pitcher.
The Builders will face the winner of the #2 Lindenwood University-Belleville/ #6 St. Joseph’s College (Brooklyn) matchup on May 14th at 2:00 pm. The Cougars will play the winner of the #3 Penn State Greater Allegheny/ #7 Selma University matchup in an elimination game in the losers bracket on Wednesday May 14th, at 11:30am.

Play between the Lynx and Bulldogs resumed this morning after rain postponed play at the top of the second the night before. With the score tied at 2, second seeded Lynx opened the game up in the bottom of the fourth when centerfielder Christian Cavaness ripped a double into the outfield to drive in three runs. The Lynx would add three insurance runs in the sixth inning to push their lead to six and ultimately win the game by the same margin.
The Lynx of Lindenwood University-Belleville will play #6 St. Joseph’s College (Brooklyn) at Lenz Field tonight at 5:00pm. Selma University will move to an elimination game against #3 Penn State Greater Allegheny
#5 Briarcliffe College 3, #9 Rochester College 5
The Rochester College Warriors jumped out to a quick 2-0 start with a pair of RBIs by shortstop Chaz Hill and another by second basemen Thomas Verdura in the second inning. With the Warriors holding a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning, the Bulldogs were able to cut into the deficit by scoring two runs. The Bulldogs would go on to tie the ballgame in the next inning, but the Warriors would add two more runs in the sixth inning off of a Nick Tomilen triple to right field to seal the victory.
Rochester College will now face #8 Victory University tonight in another elimination game at 7:00pm at Lenz Field in Jacksonville, Illinois. With the loss, Briarcliffe College is eliminated from the tournament.
