#6 Southern Virginia University 1 - #10 Penn College 2

BUTLER, PA- The Penn College Wildcats defeated the Southern Virginia University Knights 2-1 to advance in the USCAA Small College World Series. Wildcats' pitcher Craig Watson pitched a complete game, giving up just the one run on seven hits.

Watson, who has given up only one run in his last 19 innings, induced a groundball double-play from the Knights' Tyler Clark with the bases loaded to end the game and end Southern Virginia's season. The Knights' Thomas Rudd scattered seven Wildcat hits in seven strong innings of work, giving up two runs (one earned) in the losing effort. First-Team USCAA All-American Mitch Stevenson led Southern Virginia offensively once again, going 1-3 in the game and recording the Knights' only RBI.

With the score tied 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Penn College caught their big break. With one out, Zachary Buterbaugh walked and Jeremy Rall (2-4 in the game) followed with a single up the middle that advanced Buterbaugh to second. Cody Buterbaugh then grounded to shortstop and an error on the throw loaded the bases for Penn College. Zachary Weil then hit a sacrifice fly to score what would be the game-winning run.

Penn College will advance in the loser's bracket to face #2 Clark State Community College at 9:00 PM later today.
