BUTLER, PA- The fifth-seeded Penn State Greater Allegheny Lions defeated the ninth-seeded Briarcliffe College Bulldogs 2-0. The Lions' Dan Laird pitched six shutout innings, giving up five hits and striking out seven for a Greater Allegheny team that won its second game on the day.

Penn State Greater Allegheny scored their runs in the fourth and fifth innings. With one out in the fourth inning Jose Bonilla was hit by a pitch from Briarcliffe starter David Rowan, and would score after back-to-back singles from Aaron McGee and Josh Kubisz. In the fifth it was a Sam Weightman RBI double that brought home the second Lions' run. From there, Laird and Eric Schell, who came on in the seventh to record the save, blanked the Bulldogs to preserve the victory.

Anthony Puma led the way for the Bulldogs, going 1-2 with two walks in the game. Rowan went 4.1 innings, giving up both runs on six hits and Anthony Graziano pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless relief for the Bulldogs. Next up for Penn State Greater Allegheny is Lindenwood-Belleville at 9:00 AM on Wednesday.
