IN BRIEF: St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn had a two-run sixth inning to take the lead over Beaver. The Brooklyn Bears then then added an insurance run in the seventh on a fielder's choice.

HOW THEY SCORED:

  • St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn opened the scoring when Nicholas LoPrinzi flied out to right field which was enough to bring home Michael Camerada, that would prove to be the game winning run. Brian Luebcke scored on a wild pitch after being walked
  • In the seventh inning Thomas McKenna was walked then advanced to second after Michael Camerada singled down the third baseline. Chris Cutrone then recorded his first RBI of the USCAA Baseball National Championship when he singled to left center field and brought home McKenna.

BEHIND THE BOXSCORE:

  • The Bears recorded nine hits with two coming from Camerada and LoPrinzi each. McKenna, Camerada, and Luebcke each earned an RBI in the opening game of the day. Mitch Brigando pitched seven innings while giving up five hits and struck out seven.
  • Of Penn State Beaver's five hits Derek Bozic and Tyler Thellman each had two. Blaise McCarty supplied the fifth hit for Beaver. Jake Debo pitched all seven innings and gave up three earned runs.
