IN BRIEF: Third seeded Crusaders of Tennessee Temple University used a 7 run second inning on 8 hits to chase starting pitcher, Alan Madsen, of the College of St. Joseph's-Vermont on their way to a 9-4 first round victory.

HOW THEY SCORED:

  • Right fielder, Connor Martin, of College of St. Joseph's-Vermont singled to right field in the top of the second to drive in third basemen, Tyler Kunzmann, to take an early 1-0 lead
  • In the bottom of the second, the Crusaders produced 7 runs to take a commanding 7-1 lead. Right fielder, Caleb Lee, began things with a triple to left center that scored Nico McElrath to even the score with the Fighting Saints, 1-1.  Caleb Lee was driven in off of a single to center field from Hunter Brown to take a 2-1 advantage. Two batters later, Chase White scored off a Caden Shadrick single to make it 3-1. Also driving in runs for the Crusaders was shortstop, Micah Wyatt.
  • Tennessee Temple University added to their 7-1 lead in the 4th inning when Micah Wyatt scored on an error by first basemen, Tommy Grant, of the Fighting Saints to give the Crusaders a 8-1 advantage
  • College of St. Joseph's-Vermont added two more runs in the top of the 6th inning to make it 8-3.  With the bases loaded, Connor Martin, was hit by a pitch to drive in center fielder, Nestor Velazquez, for a run.  Later in the inning, Tommy Grant was walked with the bases loaded to bring home Tyler Kunzmann.
  • In the bottom half of the 6th inning, the crusaders added one more run as third basemen, Ryan Bruce, singled to right field to drive in Micah Wyatt to increase their lead, 9-3
  • In the top of the 7th inning, Nestor Velazquez crossed home plate for the Fighting Saints on a fielder's choice to make it 9-4.
