HOW THEY SCORED:

  • In the bottom of the first inning St. Joseph's Vermont were able to bring Nick Rodrigu home after Jayson Osbor singled to second base.
  • Tommy Grant doubled their lead when he grounded out to second but was able to bring Tyler Demers home.
  • In the fourth inning Connor Marti hit a homerun to make it a 3-0 lead. Tyler Demers was able to score on a wild pitch. This also aloud Daniel Pena to advance to third, the next batter, Tommy Grant, singled to right field to bring Pena home. Grant was then brought around after an error and wild pitch by Penn State Schuylkill. The next batter Jayson Osbor then singled to left center which gave Nestor Velaz enough time to make it home before the throw could reach home plate.
  • Two innings later in the bottom of the sixth, Osbor singled to right field which advanced Velaz to third and Rodrigu to make his way home from third. Connor Marti hit one up the middle and drove in Daniel Pena and Nestor Velaz, Tyler Kunzma was able to advance to third on the play. Tyler Demers made it to first on a fielder's choice and was able to bring home Kunzma.

BEHIND THE BOXSCORE:

  • Brain Brancatella tied the USCAA record for strikeouts in tournament play with 13. He only gave up one hit and two walks in his seven innings pitched. He now improves to 8-2 on the season. Jayson Osborne led the Fighting Saints with four RBIs on three hits. Connor Martin had three RBIs of his own on two hits.
  • For Penn State Schuylkill there only hit was from Tyler Starry on the top of the first inning.

College of St. Joseph's Vermont will return to action tonight at 9:00 P.M. EST as they take on the seventh seeded University Cincinnati Clermont. For Penn State Schuylkill they will head home after their second loss of the tournament.
