#2 Penn State Greater Allegheny 0, #1 Illinois Tech 1

RECORDS: Penn State Greater Allegheny (32-8), Illinois Tech (24-9)

LOCATION: War Memorial Stadium - Hampton, VA

HOW THEY SCORED:

  • Due to the great defense by both teams neither team was able to get more than one hit per inning until Greater Allegheny was able to get two hits in the top of the seventh.
  • In the bottom of the seventh inning, Illinois Tech had the bases loaded with just one out. Andrew Lamki made it to first on a fielder's choice. However, it was at the expense of his teammate Michael Malf who was thrown out at home plate. The next batter, Kyle Bumpass, was able to make contact with the ball and bring home the game winning run.
