IN BRIEF: The Cougars of UC Clermont struck early and often, to defeat Penn State DuBois 4-0 in an elimination contest of the 2016 Small College World Series.

HOW THEY SCORED: Jake Murray of UC Clermont started off the game in a big way, tripling to right field.  Jake Scarlato drove him in immediately with an RBI single.  Scarlato would take second and third on wild pitches, before scoring on a fielder's choice.  UC Clermont capitalized on more errant pitches in the second inning.  Jacob Beinke started the inning with a walk.  Kyle Miller, who pinch ran for Beinke would go on to advance to second and third on wild pitches, before eventually stealing home.

UC Clermont added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Catcher, Ben Seeger walked with one out.  He advanced to second on a groundout fielder's choice, before scoring on a Beinke RBI double in the gap. Penn State remained scoreless in the contest, leaving a total of six runners on base throughout the contest.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE: Grant Christmas of UC Clermont pitched a complete game, allowing no runs on four hits.  Garrett Brown, Clayton Butler, Caleb Bennett, and Alessandro Marotto each had lone base hits for the Lions.

UC Clermont also spread out their production offensively with five players combining for their six hits in the ball game.  Jake Scarlato was 2-3 with one run and one RBI.  Scarlato, Anthony Bell, and Nick King each had one RBI.

NEXT UP: UC Clermont advances in the elimination bracket to face the winner of Robert Morris University Peoria and Cleary University at 4:30pm EST.  Penn State DuBois is eliminated from the 2016 Small College World Series after an outstanding regular season.
