IN BRIEF: The Apprentice School Builders upset the #1 seeded UC Clermont Cougars 2-0 in the quarter-finals of the USCAA Small College World Series. 

HOW THEY SCORED: In the top of the third, Dalton Dye doubled to start the inning and Thomas Richardson followed with a single advancing Dye to third. Jacob Countiss stepped into the batter's box with both men on and hit a sac fly to right field. The right fielder had a good jump on the play and made an accurate throw to the plate, but Dye was able to slide under the tag.

In the top of the 7th inning Richardson drew a walk to get on base.  Countiss found himself at the plate again with a man on and knocked a single into the gap. Richardson advanced all the way to third on the error with just one out away. The pitcher Robbie Watkins flew out to centerfield allowing Richardson to tag up and score the second run of the game for the Builders.   

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE: The USCAA Player of the Year, Robbie Watkins went the distance striking out 11 batters on his 28 faced. He surrendered six hits over the game but gave up no walks. 

Clermont's pitcher, Grant Christman, went the distance allowing two earned runs with five strikeouts and a walk. Right fielder Nick King was 2-3 at the plate and the only Clermont player with multiple hits in the game.

NEXT UP: The Apprentice School moves along in the winners' bracket and will play the winner of the College of St, Joseph's and Penn State DuBois game, on Wednesday, May 17th in the semi-finals. UC Clermont is still alive but moves to the elimination bracket and will match up against the winner of Marygrove and Wright State –Lake Campus.
