IN BRIEF:  Wright Field State Lake Campus advances in the elimination bracket after defeating Penn State Mont 8-7.

HOW THEY SCORED: In the bottom of the first inning, Wright State's Dustin Lewis singled, but an errant throw allowed him to reach second.  Tristian Becker was next up in the lineup and singled bringing home Lewis to make it 2-0 on the evening.

Penn State Mont Alto came back in the top of the third as Matt Taylor reached first on an error by the shortstop. A grounder advanced Taylor to second but put two outs on the board in the process. Jeremiah Younker tallied his fist RBI of the game after he he singled scoring an unearned run as Taylor made it around to home from second. In a play resulting in two errors by Wright State, Brady Topper reached and advanced to second. The second error brought Younker from second all the way around to score, tying the game up at 2-2 through the top of the third.

Wright State regained the lead in the bottom of the inning after Billy Lanham was walked and then stole second. Ronaldo Acosta singled to the gap, advancing Lanham to third with just one out. Acosta then stole second to get into scoring position but an errant throw moved him to third and scored Lanham on an unearned run. The next batter Dakota Shatto-Craft had a base hit to score Acosta. Lewis had a double with three men on, scoring two.

During the top of the fourth inning Mont Alto got a run back when Colby Black singled scoring Spencer Meyers from third.
In the bottom of the fourth inning Chandler Craine of the Lakers singled, but another error gave him the opportunity to move ahead a base, scoring Lanham who was walked earlier in the inning.
Mont Alto scored four runs in the fifth inning starting with Martin reaching first on an error. Younker stepped up and hit a triple to bring Martin home for the score. Topper followed Younker's triple with a base hit for another run scored. Cory Chatfield reached on a fielder's choice and Landon Richards was advanced to third on the play Joel Claubaugh and Topper came around to score and tie the game at 7-7. 

In the bottom of the sixth Wright State's Fitzgerald reached first on an error. Landham knocked another base hit and advanced the runner to scoring position on second. Acosta capitalized on the opportunity late in the game with a RBI base hit in what proved to be the winning run for the Lakers.   

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE: Younker and Clabaugh were the only two Mont Alto players with a multi-hit game.  However, four other players notched a hit in the contest. Younker was 4-4 at the plate today and brought in two RBIs. Topper and Chatfield each added two RBIs. Lowell Singer went 3.1 innings allowing four hits and just one earned run. 

Dustin Lewis had three RBIs in the game for Mont Alto with his double into the gap in the third inning notching two. Ronaldo Acosta was 2-3 with an RBI and a walk. Tristan Becker, Chad Anders, Billy Lanman, Acosta, and Craine each had a stolen base in the game. The Lakers from Wright State left nine men on base and struck out four times in the game. The game saw 17 hits but only two extra base hits with one from each team. 

NEXT UP: Wright State advances in the elimination bracket to play tonight at 9:00 pm against 10th seeded Marygrove College. Penn State Monto Alto exits the tournament after a season where they prevailed as the Penn State University Athletic Conference champion.
